1966 Ford Mustang overview

You are bidding on a true survivor Mustang which has never been wrecked and sporting all original panels as the day it left the factory. In 1966 Clara Ann Clark walked into the Forsyth Ford Dealership, located here in Rockmart Ga, and ordered this 1966 Ford Mustang. After driving it just a few months, she decided that it was too small of a car for her and bought something new. Troy Clark was the nephew of Clara Ann and Bought this Mustang shortly before being shipped off to fight for his Country in Vietnam. He told me knowing that this car was sitting back at his parents garage, waiting on him, is what helped him make it through the war alive. Once he came home from Vietnam he started cruising his Mustang around town and this very car is what caught the eye of his bride. They dated in it, Honeymooned in it, brought their children home from the hospital in it etc. In 1971 Troy was out drag racing a 55 Chevy and blew the original 289 engine. He took the car back to the dealer to have the engine repaired. He said the mechanic took him around back and showed him a 1971 Maverick Grabber which had been wrecked beyond repair. The Maverick had less than 10,000 on the speedometer and the mechanic said he could install it's 302 into his Mustang cheaper than he could repair the 289 and that is the route that was taken. Later on in 1986, the car received a repaint by local restorer Danny Ferguson. Troy drove the car occasionally around town until 1991. He then pulled it into the shed next to his home where it would sit until I rescued it in 2014. He told me he had a guy work on it several years ago but that he could not get it to run, the guy kept hounding him to buy it, imagine that. I was able to purchase the car due to knowing Troy and he said his eye sight was getting worse and he knew he'd never fix the car. When I started tinkering with the car I found that someone had installed a stick in the fuel line to keep it from cranking. I installed a used fuel tank with a new fuel sending unit, new plugs and wires, points, condenser and rotary button. I have the car running smooth it shifts good and stops. It still has ply tires from the late 1980's So no you can't drive it home. The glass is all good, the panels all line up good, The trunk pan is rock solid as is the cowl, torque boxes, shock towers, rockers and the frame and front floor pan.The front shock area has not had holes cut in it with a torch to get to shock bolts as most do. The rear pans need patched or replaced, your call, see pics. This is the original interior it does have a few varmit holes which have been covered with tape to keep them from spreading. Lights and turn signals, wipers and heater all work. There are thousands of 1966 Mustang coupes, but there aren't that many that have not been wrecked, low miles, title, and the same owner for nearly 50 years. This has been a local garage kept car it's entire life. The lead at the windshield post seam had started to peel off and I grinded it out to repair it but never got to it. I have ordered all new brake components for the car and they will be included in this auction. Please ask any and all questions prior to bidding, I reserve the right to cancel any bid which I deem not to be genuine. Full payment is due within 5 days of auction end, afterwards you may have as long as needed to arrange transport. Thank you for viewing my auction.
